Dear CP Marissa, PP Rey, PP Benson, Pres. Deo, PE Yas, PN Leo V. and all my Fellow RC Makati Nielsen Officers and Directors and Members, Thank you for the trust and confidence in choosing me as the 5 th President of our Club! It is indeed a challenging year of service for me and I thank everyone for participating in the series of planning sessions that we held in March this year. As agreed, for RY 2009-2010, and onwards , our thrusts shall be to address the following in addition to the other existing projects that our club did for the past Rotary Years, which we will sustain: |
A ) health and hunger, water and sanitation and literacy , livelihood and vocational - these could be very well funded from the effective collection of membership dues. The more “quality” members we have, the more fund we can use to support the projects. Increasing Membership and getting them involved in our projects is a major thrust of RI. We need to establish Rotary Community Corps (RCC) which will help us execute our community projects. The parents of the community/ies that we adopted are the best candidates as RCC. Rotary calls for successful people on their vocations/professions because it is from our hearts, skills and talents that we can support the vocational and livelihood projects . We will respond to the call of the Department of Education to help them in some projects such as Alternative Learning System and the Adopt a School . We will impart our Vocations to the teachers of our adopted school and community in the form of lectures and seminars . These are valuable gifts of knowledge that they can also impart to the children/students who look up to them. We will help to match qualified people to fit in a job, after giving them a free training in our partnership with TESDA’s accredited Training Institutions . We will continuously sponsor some deserving children an access to formal education, We will provide books for their community libraries We will partner up with some NGOs and private establishments to be able to conduct medical and dental missions. b) Membership Retention and Activation - The manuals provided to every PE are ready handouts for discussion to those who wishes to join the club. A clear understanding of what Rotary is all about, how they can help by getting involved on our projects will let them feel the Rotary Motto of “Service Above Self” . With the RY2009-2010 Theme: “The Future of Rotary is in your Hands”, we are expected to dream big things for the poor and for Rotary. We will make one of our regular meetings of the month as our “New Invitee Business Meeting” and we will request every member to support this event. We will avoid meetings on luxurious places so that the savings we will have on the less costly meals could be a Sustaining Fund for the club which we will earmark for a year-end Christmas Gift giving . We will work for each of us to be a Sustaining Paul Harris c) We need to support Rotary Foundation by making a per capita of $100 for every registered member This means that each member is encouraged to be a Sustaining Paul Harris . Every $100 donation will help RI’s global project on Polio Eradication , We will encourage our members who are blessed financially to be Paul Harris by donating $1000 /head (minimum) d) We will support the District Events such as DISCON, DISTAS and some other worthwhile events specially those involving our youth (Rotaractors and Interactors ) such as RYLA, etc.. Every Rotarian must look forward to serving Rotary beyond the Club Level . We will establish our ROTARACTORS’ club and together with our existing INTERACTORS , we will be their anchor in molding them to be the leaders of the future and at this early age, they will start to appreciate the true Ideals of Rotary. We will involve our children and their friends. We will provide them with training opportunities by sharing our Rotarian members’ vocations. Let our actions and values serve as their inspirations. e) We will establish International Sister Clubs and more Local Sister Clubs. They are our allies in funding our Matching Grants . f) We will continuously do fellowship events and adopt the “body –body system of mentoring” so that every new member would love Rotary and fully understand the Ideals of Rotary. g) We will encourage each and every club member to support every Committee Chairs so that each committee could function effectively: Club Administration, Club Membership, Club Relations, Club Service Projects and the Club Rotary Foundation . On Public Image, we will immediately upload in our website all the documentaries of the activities that our club did The website will show the wonderful faces of our members and their classifications and that every member will be happy to share to potential members what our club is doing . h) We will have a once a month joint meeting with other clubs. The interaction and exchange of ideas among other Rotarians will widen our members’ sphere of friends. Joint projects with other clubs, if there is an opportunity, will create better impact. Fellowshipping with other Rotarians must be an event to look forward to every month. i) Last but not the least, we will continuously think of innovative projects that will really impact the lives of our adopted communities. We will attempt to come-up with project/s that could qualify for a 3H Grant and Matching Grant. Again, may I express my admiration and thanks to CP Marissa Del Mar, PP Rey Alas, PP Benson Perelonia , and IPP Deo BC for giving your best during your term and for making our club as it is now! Cheers to the rest of my Fellow RCM Nielsens! In my heart, I am proud of our club, because we really have real warm bodies who are willing and are bonded and glued to do great roles. Most of all , my special thanks to our District Governor Sid Garcia and Lady Tesha Garcia and his District Team Officers who are all out to guide and support every President of 3830. The trainings we had during the PRE-PETS , PETS and DISTAS gave us a clear picture of what we can really do best as Presidents of our clubs. In Matthew 5:16, God commanded that “ we let our light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise our Father in Heaven”. Let us be the light of the world and the city on a hill as we Serve Above Self ! Every ounce of help that we can all share, for as long at it is from your heart, will go a long way. Truly, the future of Rotary is in every Rotarian’s hands. I pray that God will fill us with the knowledge of His will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding! Your Smiling Visionary President, EMELINA “ Emi” PULIDO |
